Turku Mayor Candidate | Candidate in the County and Municipal Elections 2025

I am Nicke Wulff, a Candidate in the County and Municipal Elections 2025.

I am a qualified teacher and have worked in the education sector for over 20 years, of which 12 years as a principal.

My strong interest in education and the well-being of children and young people has led me into politics.

I have been actively involved in municipal politics for over a decade and currently serve as the chair of RKP council group in the Turku City Council.

I am running in the County and Municipal Elections 2025 because I want to continue developing Turku area into a place where it is good to live and work.

I want cities that prioritizes education, offers young people the best opportunities to succeed, and makes decisions with both heart and reason.

I believe in collaboration and clear leadership to create sustainable solutions —whether in education, the economy, or smooth transportation.

In the wellbeing services county, I want to ensure that student welfare services function effectively and that all children and young people receive the support they need, in time.

There is always room for improvement — and together, we can make it happen.

The Best School — Safety, Knowledge, and Focus

Every child and young person in Turku should have access to high-quality education, where they receive the right support and challenges to succeed.

Schools should be safe and inspiring environments where both students and staff thrive.

To achieve this, we need sufficient resources and well-functioning school buildings.

We must prioritize investments in safe and well-maintained learning environments.

Economy & Business — Responsibility, Growth, and Smart Investments

Turku must have a stable and sustainable economy.

We must invest in what truly strengthens the city’s future: education, infrastructure, and well-functioning services.

A strong business sector is key to a growing and prosperous city.

Turku must be an attractive place for companies to establish and expand.

The Strong Future — Flexible, cost-effective and long-term sustainable solutions instead of Turku tramway

When investing in the future, daycare, schools and housing services must come first.

It is these investments that build a city where people want to live and thrive – and thus they create the foundation for a stable economy in the long term.

For these reasons, I cannot support the Turku tramway project.

Raitiotiekeskustelu tarvitsee faktoja, ei “vaihtoehtoisia faktoja”.

Vastustan Turun raitiotiehanketta. Teen sen kuitenkin niiden faktojen ja selvitysten pohjalta, jotka hankkeesta on jo tehty.

Turussa raitiotiestä on laadittu runsaasti selvityksiä. Ne ovat julkisia, laajoja ...ja asiantuntijoiden tekemiä. Meillä on siis jo kaikki tarvittava tieto päätöksenteon pohjaksi. Ongelma ei ole tiedon puute.

Ongelma on se, että hankkeen hyödyt eivät vastaa sen kustannuksia. Kyse on erittäin suuresta investoinnista, joka sisältää merkittäviä taloudellisia riskejä kaupungille.

Siksi en myöskään tue hanketta, jossa kerätään rahaa niin sanottujen “vaihtoehtoisten faktojen” tuottamiseen. Sellaiselle ei ole tarvetta. Päätöksenteko pitää perustua samoihin avoimiin ja julkisiin faktoihin kaikille.

Tämän vuoksi olin myös mukana allekirjoittamassa mielipidekirjoitusta, joka julkaistiin tänään 10.3.2026 Turun Sanomissa.

Omasta näkökulmastani johtopäätös on selvä: raitiotien hyödyt ovat liian pienet ja kustannukset liian suuret.
